Much of the fabric that you see in our brick-and-mortar store, and all of the clothing in our clothing line (Shirts, Dresses, and Kurtis etc.) are Hand Block-Printed and dyed with natural and vegetable dyes;  such as our extensive and frequently changing selection of Indigo prints. Our printers do it all by hand, from mixing the dye, carving the designs into blocks, making the sawdust mixture that helps to create the subtle background patterns in our more intricate pieces, dyeing the fabric, stamping the patterns with blocks, dye and sawdust, dyeing the fabric AGAIN (some of our most beautiful and intricate designs require 4 different colours and a uniquely carved block for each). They then place the fabric outside in the sun to dry, and repeat as many times as required for a particular design. Once we have selected our favourites based on quality, consistency, and colour, we bring them to our store where one of our 4 tailors work on industrial sewing machines to turn our beautiful fabrics into wearable works of art. Usually you can hear two of them at work beneath us. Everything here is done locally and by hand, even the carving of the natural coconut buttons!
